Changing Learner Mindsets – Overcoming Barriers to Learning in
Following the changes to Conditions of Funding we are now in a position where learners are required to continue to study English and or maths until they achieve at least a grade C (soon to be grade 4/5). More learners studying more qualifications at higher levels puts additional pressures on the teachers working with the learners each day, learners who are battling with a range of barriers to learning in English and maths.
Teaching, learning and assessment support learners to develop their skills in English, mathematics and ICT and their employability skills, including appropriate attitudes and behaviours for work, in order to achieve their learning goals and career aims (CIF, 2015).
Vocational teachers and English and maths subject specialists working with learners who are completing English and maths qualifications in Further Education.
Improved behaviour and level of engagement in English and maths classes. Learners achieve more in English and maths classes as teachers are given a range of methods of removing barriers, allowing for a more positive and productive learning environment, resulting in higher retention, achievement and success.
All training packages can be delivered as full or half day training sessions, more substantial courses in English and maths provision are available on request. All sessions can be modified to meet the needs of training providers and institutions.
