Interactive Teaching, Learning and Assessment in English and Maths
Staff teaching Functional Skills need to meet the needs and interests of their learners if they are to make their lessons a success. Teachers need to not only deliver the content of the curriculum, but successfully improve engagement and achieve a learning environment where learners are excited about their learning too. This session includes resources and demonstrations of how interactive teaching methods can improve distance travelled and learner engagement, promoting independent learning and progression.
Teaching and assessment methods and resources inspire and challenge all learners and meet their different needs, including the most able and the most disadvantaged, enabling them to enjoy learning and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding (CIF, 2015).
Vocational teachers and English and maths subject specialists working with learners who are completing English and maths qualifications (or any other qualification!) in Further Education.
Improved behaviour and level of engagement in English and maths classes. Learners achieve more in English and maths classes as teachers are given a range of methods to make learning interactive and for learners to become more independent in their learning, allowing for a more positive and productive learning environment, resulting in higher retention, achievement and success.
All training packages can be delivered as full or half day training sessions, more substantial courses in English and maths provision are available on request. All sessions can be modified to meet the needs of training providers and institutions.
